Today was a nice ride. We didn’t even realize we were climbing a summit until we saw the Crowsnest Pass Summit sign. We were excited to make it to the Alberta border. Another milestone achieved! We made our deadline of getting through BC in two weeks!
The Crowsnest Pass was a blast to bike through! The headwinds finally turned into tailwinds so it felt like a roller coaster as we flew through the hills. At the end of the Pass we ran into a bit of roadwork. We had to dodge pooling tar at the edge of the road. A little note about tar: It sticks to bike tires and then it collects dirt and rocks so the tires feel heavy and lumpy.
Just before Pincher Creek we felt like we were being poisoned as a farmer sprayed some chemical on his field. The smell was awful. And being on bicycles, it was like a slow torture as we passed by the long field.
We arrived at my Uncle Ronnie’s around dinner time. We had a wonderful visit and I was so happy we could stay at his place because he has a lovely home! (Thanks Uncle Ronnie!)
Today we travelled 86.1 km.
